State-of-the-art eye health and diagnostics.

As a 100% locally owned & operated Optometrist in Noosa Junction, Noosa Optical doesn't pay franchise fees. We would rather re-invested into specialized eye test equipment and services for our clients. Here are some examples of where we've re-invested into eye health and diagnostics. We do a lot more than just an eye test for glasses.
Each instrument has it's own specialized application. All together, they keep us at the cutting edge of eye health diagnosis and management.
Zeiss Cirrus HD-OCT
This sophisticated scanning system (costing around the same as a luxury car), the Zeiss Cirrus HD-OCT, produces highly detailed 3D images of the internal structures of your eyes. It is particularly useful in assessing and recording macular health, but can also be used to view all the other structures of the eye in great detail.
OCT could be compared to MRI or an ultrasound of the eye and it allows our Optometrists to view the deepest layers of your eyes, not visible with other testing equipment. We routinely use this machine as part of our comprehensive eye health checks.
Results generated by the Zeiss Cirrus HD-OCT are accepted and preferred by Ophthalmologists meaning you won't need to repeat tests unnecessarily.
Zeiss Humphrey Field Analyser
The Zeiss HFA provides our Optometrist with specific information on the status of your vision, in particular, the parts of your peripheral or side vision that you may not even be aware of. Particularly useful in this machine is the ability to compare results over time and gain a better understanding of the progression of a patient's glaucoma into the future.
Unlike basic field analysers, results generated by the Zeiss HFA are accepted and preferred by Ophthalmologists meaning you won't need to repeat tests unnecessarily.
High Resolution Digital Retinal Camera
Fundus imaging is essentially a digital photograph of the inside of the eye. It provides a clear and precise record of the retina which assists in better management and diagnosis of health conditions effecting the retina. This is standard for every comprehensive eye test with our optometrists.
Our camera has a much higher resolution than standard cameras meaning better diagnostic capabilities along with a smoother visit.
Autorefractor / Keratometer
Capturing a fast and accurate digital prescription is one of the first steps to achieving the best possible vision prescription. This machine completes up to eleven different measurements of your eye's focusing ability and the shape of your cornea in a matter of seconds.
Our autorefractor gives our optometrists the ability to provide high quality patient care, starting with premium diagnostics and it speeds up the eye test process (vision tests) so that our optometrists can spend more personalised time with you in their eye test rooms.
Non-contact tonometry (NCT) is probably the most memorable part of your last eye test with us - the puff of air! Still a very useful and quick test, this machine has the ability to quickly screen for abnormal internal eye pressures which is usually in indicator of an underlying eye health issue. This is also a standard part of our eye test. In cases where a high level of pressure accuracy is required, our optometrists will use a different instrument.
We love to be able to work with advanced equipment because it gives us confidence in what we do.
If you would like more detailed information or would like a personal tour of each machine, call us and we'd be delighted to show you around. Alternatively, book an appointment today!
Noosa Optical was established in 1989 as the first Optometrist in Noosa Junction. We provide comprehensive eye tests including a full range of options in eyecare and eyewear. Our optometrists mostly look after clients from the Peregian Beach, Peregian Springs, Noosa Heads, Noosaville and Tewantin areas, although we do see clients from right across the Sunshine Coast who are seeking a higher standard of care.
